Hope Beyond Belief

God promised Abraham more descendants than stars in the sky. Abraham had no clue as to how God would do this. He just knew if God said it…it was true.
Romans 4:18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping-believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” 19 And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though he was about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead-and so was Sarah’s womb. 20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.
All of us stare up the Mountain of Maybes & What Might Be. It all seems too much for us. In a week where our politics, culture differences, language and allegiances try to divide us, we must take a closer look. Sure, the empty chair across the dinner table, the prescriptions grow more expensive each day, it’s harder and harder each week to put dinner on the table.
Look closer, we make look and sound different. We want the same things: Familly/friends to love, meaningful work and homes that keep us safe, warm, and dry. The journey to the top of the mountain is long and hard. It may be too much for us…but nothing is ever too much for God.
Let’s take a page from Abraham’s play book:
⦁ Believe against all odds
⦁ Figure our own shortcomings
⦁ Stay resolute and not waver
⦁ Grow stronger each day
⦁ Be fully convinced God is able to do whatever He promises.
This may be one of the darker weeks in our country’s history. Yet, with God, He can mend fissures, heal hearts and turn us toward Him and one another. It all may look a bit daunting. The circumstances remain difficult, yet look to One who made us, loved us and hopes for us more than we could ever imagine.
